Retro design is back in action, and the trend will only get hotter. More and more people are now starting to respect/admire old fashioned designs like websites, flyers, logos, business cards, and posters. We admire the designers back in the 20th century and salute them for doing a great job. Just imagine how much more harder their work had to be. With no computer software around, I’m sure designs took them weeks to accomplish if not months. From their passion and hard work, it’s very pleasing to see the style coming back into action!
I have noticed a recent rise in the number of logos designed in a retro style. Be it colors or design elements that remind you of an era past, retro logos are very charming and induce a sense of nostalgia. Swirly fonts and muted colors are a dead giveaway of a retro style. Then there are actual objects used that you don’t see much anymore like the volkswagon vans and milk bottles.

People adore many things in retro style – cars, furniture, paintings, etc., not only because such things easily draw public attention thanks to their unusual and unique appearance, but also because all of them have already passed the test of time and proved their quality and authentic value. Old style logo design is often chosen to underline historical legacy and traditions of a company or a brand. Organic food companies, hotels, media and publishing companies – there are many examples of business spheres, where retro and old style logo designs are still in use today. Of course, rebranding is often a pressing demand of time, when it is necessary to renovate and modernize company’s profile including its logo; however, those companies that built their reputation for many dozens of years value their traditions and legacy too much to change their graphical symbols easily. Owing to that even today we still have many examples of retro logo designs.
